Concerns voiced about dog fouling at Newtownabbey beauty spots

The resident, who regularly walks at the scenic areas, contacted the council to ask how often dog wardens patrolled parks in the borough, claiming “there is an incredible amount of dog waste to negotiate”.
They added: “They are lovely areas to walk in, but dog fouling is on the increase.”

Hide AdResponding to the concerns, a spokesperson for the local authority said: “Enforcement Officers carry out patrols in Newtownabbey Way and Hazelbank Park at least three times each week and additional patrols take place if we receive specific complaints.
“We have scheduled increased patrols for Enforcement Officers in these areas.”
The council has previously detailed the penalties at their disposal if dog owners are identified failing to clean up after their pet.
