Foyle launches new Inter-Club golf tournament
And what’s different about this particular competition is that golfers from all abilities will be involved in the singles matchplay event.
The eight clubs competing in the inaugural tournament will be - Ballyliffin, Buncrana, Faughan Valley, Foyle, Greencastle, North-West Redcastle and Roe Park.

Hide AdThe clubs have been split into two groups with each club playing three matches, home and away, in the group stage with the top two competing in the final.
Each team will be made up of seven players - three Category 1 players (handicaps from. scr. to 12); three Category 2 players (handicaps from 13 to 20) and one Category 4 player (handicap from 21 to 28).
The tournament will tee-off in June with matches played through July and August with the final scheduled for September.
Representatives of the eight clubs were present at the Ballyarnett venue last week.

Hide AdSection One will involve - Ballyliffin, Faughan Valley, Greencastle and Roe Park while Section Two will be contested by Buncrana, Foyle, North-West and Redcastle.
While on Saturday at Foyle, Cathal O’Donnell (12) with 46 points came out on top.
Martin Loughrey (11) with 45 points claimed the category 0-11, Ciaran O’Doherty (12) with 44 points secured the category 12-17 and the category 18+ was won by Paddy McCafferty (20) after he scored 45 points.
The back nine went to Paul Dunn (23) after he scored 25 points.

Hide AdLast Wednesday’s Easter Hamper played on the winter layout produced some excellent scores at Foyle.
The best score on the day coming from 16 handicapper Dermott Harkin who returned an excellent winning score of 47 points.
Kieran Duffy (9) produced the shot of the day, to hole out his second shot at the par five fifth hole for a six point Albatross ensuring he won the low category prize after finishing with 44 points.
The Category 12-17 went Kevin McDermott (13) after he scored 46 points and Foncey O’Kane (23) with 46 points claimed the category 18+.
Anthony McMonagle (17) with 23 points won the back nine.

Hide AdThis week at Foyle entries for the Rankin Machine Tool Services Club Championship Foursomes close this Wednesday and the draw will be posted on Friday.
On Wednesday the Crumley Construction monthly medal takes centre stage, the Inner Wheel Charity Open is up for grabs on Thursday, there’s a club stableford competition on Saturday and a Crumley Construction monthly medal takes place on Sunday.
Meanwhile at City of Derry last Thursday, Alastair Crockett (12) with 38 points was the winner by one shot over John Woods (13), with Tom McClintock (11) taking third spot after he scored 35 points.
Rodney Smyth with 176 points was the clear winner of the Cahir Fitzpatrick Trophy for Golfer of the Year 2014, with 15 points to spare over Robin McClay, who finished with 161 with the early leader Fred Young finishing in third place after he scored 155 points.
