Banbridge played host to Clandeboye Golf Club in the second round of the Fred Daly Trophy last Sunday, a tough assignment for the Banbridge boys.

The Junior Captain Scott Nelson battled bravely but went down 4/3, Josh Crory was 1up with 4 to play, took the gas and lost 2/1 and with a similar result from Calum Barnes Banbridge were immediately 3 matches down and not looking good.

Stellar performances from Luke Crory (2/1), Jamie Thompson (3/2), Rory McMullen (4/3) and a tremendous win for Patrick McNiff (2/1) on his debut in the Fred Daly – I remember his Father as a star player for Mourne Golf Club in the days of yore - ensured a win for Banbridge.

There is work to be done at Conlig, but good organisation and preparation can ensure victory for Banbridge.
