Ulster-Scots enthusiast Alan Day has been selected to run for the Coagh ward for the UKIP in the forthcoming elections.

Alan Day, a 38-year-old self-employed IT technician – he was born in Germany but largely reared in Scotland and Northern Ireland. He has a keen interest in Ulster-Scots history, culture and music being a member of the South Londonderry Ulster-Scots Association.

Alan is a member of the Orange Order and District Secretary for Ballyronan District LOL No 7 and is a regular church attender. Alan often blogs on Slugger O’Toole as well as maintaining The Orange Chronicle and Ulster-Scots Online websites. Alan is married to Michelle and has a one-year-old daughter, Hannah.
